AIRFIELD

It all began in 1916 when the Royal Flying Corps moved its air mechanics school from Farnborough to Halton a year later the school was permanently accommodated in workshops that were built by German PoWs.

At the end of the First World War the site was absorbed into the Royal Air Force establishment.

In 1919 the World Famous No. 1 School of Technical Training was established at RAF Halton by Lord Trenchard. This remained at the airfield until it was moved to RAF Cosford in the early 1990s.

The Airfield is now home to a number of different clubs and organisations of which the Aeroplane Club is one.
